bertie-wooden-christmas-tree-decoration-beige
Bertie Wooden Christmas Tree Decoration - Beige

Description

Bertie is a wooden Christmas decoration in the shape of a little steam train, made from 100% birch wood with a lacquered finish. A chimneyed engine with a windowed cab pulls four open wagons, and each wagon carries its own cargo of small painted passengers: snowmen in top hats and scarves, figures in pointed bobble hats, a tiny bear, a ball and a few parcels. The train runs along an arched base and hangs from a fine cord loop, its beige birch showing between the painted details. It measures 22cm long, 2.5cm wide and 5cm tall and weighs 0.07KG, so think of it as a charming small piece rather than a centrepiece.

Because it is so light, it hangs happily where a heavier ornament would pull or swing: from a door handle in the hall, a hook on a dresser, a cupboard knob or a sturdy branch of the Christmas tree. At 2.5cm wide it sits close to whatever it hangs against, which suits a door or a cupboard front. It brings an old-fashioned, storybook feel to a hallway, a kitchen or a bedroom door, and it makes a thoughtful small gift for anyone who loves wooden Christmas decorations or remembers a toy train under the tree.

Birch is a pale, fine-grained hardwood, and here it is finished in lacquer, which seals the surface and gives the wood and the little figures a gentle sheen. The wagons are linked to one another by small hooks, much as a toy train's carriages are, and each runs on its own spoked wheels. Being only 2.5cm wide and 0.07KG, it tucks easily into a box of decorations when January comes, ready for next year. To style it, hang it at eye level on an inside door where the passengers can be seen, and tie a length of ribbon to the handle beside it for a little extra colour.

Specification

Width

2.5cm

Length

22cm

Height

5cm

Material

100% Birch Wood

Colour

Beige

Finish

Lacquer

Weight

0.07KG

Frequently Asked

What is this Christmas decoration made of?

It is made from 100% birch wood with a lacquered finish, which seals the wood and gives the train and its painted figures a soft sheen.

How big is the wooden train decoration?

It measures 22cm long, 2.5cm wide and 5cm tall, and it weighs 0.07KG, so it is a small, light decoration for a handle, hook or branch.

Can I hang it up?

Yes.
