A wide, very shallow white disc that turns down gently at the rim, with a second smaller bowl of opal glass sitting beneath it and glowing warm. The upper disc is flat metal and shields the lamp from directly above, while the glass bowl underneath is what you actually see lit from the room. A small brushed metal finial finishes the centre of the bowl on its underside. The proportions are wide and low, so it reads as a floating plate rather than a shade. The two parts are held a little apart, so light escapes sideways between them as well as downward. It measures 40cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
