A black cone shade with a rounded shoulder, held on a jointed black arm that clamps to a long vertical black rail fixed to the wall top and bottom. The shade's lining is warm cream and shows as a bright mouth against the matt black outside. The arm carries a knuckle behind the shade so the head swings and turns, and the whole bracket slides up and down the rail and locks where it is wanted. A black flex runs from the head and drops down beside the rail, on show rather than hidden. Everything but the lining is the same flat black. It measures 18cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA wall light earns its place by leaving the surface below it clear. Beside a bed where there is no room for a table lamp, over a work bench, up a stairwell or either side of a mirror, it gives directed light without taking up any space.
