A pleated ball of cream fabric, ribbed in vertical panels between a pale ring at the top and another at the bottom, carried on a very slim black stem that rises from a flat round black disc base. The pleats read as soft folds rather than sharp creases, so the sphere looks gathered rather than built, and the fabric glows right through with the weave showing as a fine grain. The stem is a plain round tube with no joints. The ball sits high on the stem, which is deliberately thin so the shade appears to float. It measures 40cm across and 150cm tall, in metal, fabric and oak wood.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space.
