A smoked glass ball ribbed in fine vertical flutes that run from the shoulder to the base, drawn up at the top into a small rounded glass knop that stands clear of the body. The tint is a soft grey, clear enough to show the lamp inside as a bright filament and dark enough to mirror a little at the shoulder. The knop is held by a slim black cone, above which a twisted grey and white fabric flex runs up. The bottom of the ball is left open and unrimmed. The proportions are round and full. It measures 15cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA shade this small works better in a run of two or three over an island than alone in the middle of a ceiling, where it reads as an accent rather than the main light. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
