An opal ball ribbed in fine vertical flutes that run from the shoulder to the base, drawn up at the top into a small rounded opal knop that stands clear of the body. The knop is held by a slim polished chrome cone, above which a twisted grey and white fabric flex runs up. The glass is warm white and thick enough to hide the lamp, so the ribs show only as shading. The bottom of the ball is left open and unrimmed. The proportions are round and full, a little wider than the shade is tall. It measures 15cm across.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA shade this small works better in a run of two or three over an island than alone in the middle of a ceiling, where it reads as an accent rather than the main light. Hang it so the bottom of the shade sits about 80cm above the surface, a little higher if people walk beneath it rather than sit under it.
