We wanted a piece that offered proper closed storage without the hard edges you so often find, so we gave it a rounded rectangular body and fluted tambour doors that slide open rather than swinging out on hinges. Those ribbed doors wrap the whole front and curve round both ends, which means there are no sharp corners to catch a hip or a passing pillow. Standing on four round tapered legs, it keeps a low, grounded profile at 67cm high, and we think it earns its place in a living room, a hallway or the corner of a bedroom.\u003c\/p\u003e \u003cp\u003eThe tambour fronts glide sideways to reveal the storage within, and we have kept the mechanism simple so there is nothing to fight with day to day. Built from solid oak, oak veneer and MDF with a steel structure, the piece is finished in a warm Charcoal that settles happily against pale walls or deeper tones alike. The natural oak grain reads through, giving the cabinet a bit of texture up close.
