The marble is a pale grey shot through with darker veins and flecks, and the lid is a shallow dome with a lipped edge.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAt 11cm tall and 8.5cm across it holds cotton wool pads, cotton buds and the other small things that otherwise sit loose on a basin surround or a windowsill. It weighs a kilogram, which is heavy for its size and keeps it where it is set down.
