anjuna-small-reactive-glaze-ceramic-vase-off-white
Anjuna Small Reactive Glaze Ceramic Vase - Off White

Description

The Anjuna is a ceramic vase 23cm tall and 22cm across, built as a soft barrel that swells at the belly, draws in at the shoulder and opens again at the mouth. The rim is left uneven, dipping and rising rather than running level. A band of small carved ovals wraps the shoulder in staggered rows and runs about a third of the way down the body, and below it the surface is left plain.

At 23cm this is a sideboard or mantelpiece vase rather than a floor one. The mouth is wide, so it takes a loose armful of branches better than a tight posy, and on a sideboard the stems fall well past the rim. The inside carries a double layer of glaze, which is what makes it suitable for water and fresh flowers. It is for indoor use.

The vase is ceramic and the glaze is reactive, so it moves in the kiln and settles differently on every piece. The white breaks to a sandy buff where it thins at the foot and across the carving, and a thin brown line follows the rim where the glaze has pulled back. The Anjuna vase is made in a larger size as well, 29.5cm tall.

Specification

Height

23cm

Diameter

22cm

Material

Ceramic

Colour

Off White

Frequently Asked

How tall is the vase?

23cm tall and 22cm across.

Can it hold water and fresh flowers?

Yes.
