alistair-resin-ornament-white
Alistair Resin Ornament - White

Description

The Alistair is an abstract sculptural ornament in white polyresin, a single flowing form that twists over itself and opens into a wide loop at its centre. A tall curved blade rises at the top, a cupped band wraps around the middle and a deep arc sweeps down to meet the base, so the piece changes shape as you move around it. It stands 43cm tall, 19cm long and 12cm wide, which gives it the height to hold its own on a sideboard without taking up much depth.

Its height suits a deep window sill, a console table in a hallway or the end of a bookcase, where the open loop lets daylight pass and keeps the piece from looking heavy. On a mantelpiece it sits comfortably beside a low vase or a pair of candles, and on a side table in a living room or bedroom it gives the eye a quiet place to rest. It suits anyone drawn to calm, pale interiors, from a pared-back Scandinavian scheme to a shelf of neutral books and ceramics, and it makes a thoughtful housewarming present for someone furnishing a new home.

The maker gives the material as 100% polyresin, and the sculpture sits on a rectangular block that gives it a broad, flat footing. The surface is matt, with a fine speckled texture that catches the light softly and reads much like carved stone. At 2.55KG it has a reassuring weight for its size and settles squarely on a shelf. Polyresin is a moulded material, which is how a form this fluid, with thin edges and deep hollows, can be made. For the best effect, give it a little space of its own and light it from one side, so the curves throw soft shadows across the white.

Specification

Width

12cm

Length

19cm

Height

43cm

Material

100% Polyresin

Colour

White

Weight

2.55KG

Frequently Asked

What is the Alistair ornament made of?

It is made of 100% polyresin, with a matt surface and a fine speckled texture that looks much like carved stone.

How big is it?

It stands 43cm tall, 19cm long and 12cm wide, so it suits a deep window sill, a mantelpiece or a bookcase shelf with enough height.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 2.55KG, which gives it a settled, substantial feel for a decorative piece of its size.

Does it stand on a base?

Yes.
