abeera-stoneware-vase-20cm-beige
Abeera Stoneware Vase 20cm - Beige

Description

The Abeera is a stoneware vase shaped as though a sheet of clay had been wrapped around itself and folded over at the top. A broad band crosses the upper part on a slant, overlapping the body and leaving a slim opening in one side, so the outline changes as you walk past it. It stands 20cm tall and 14.5cm across, is made of 100% stoneware and weighs 1.05KG, which gives it a steady footing on a shelf or table. The beige glaze is mottled and speckled, and it gathers in small drips along the folded edges.

At 20cm tall it suits a short bunch of dried grasses, a few twigs or a single branch, and it is just as good empty, treated as a small sculpture. We would put it on a sideboard, a mantelpiece, a bookshelf or a bedside table, anywhere it can be seen from more than one side so the fold reads properly. Its beige tone sits quietly with linen, wood, rattan and plaster walls, so it works in a living room, a hallway or a bedroom without competing with its surroundings. It also makes a thoughtful gift for someone setting up a new home.

The body is stoneware throughout, and stoneware is a dense, hard ceramic fired at high temperature, which is why the vase feels solid and weighty in the hand. The glaze runs over the rim and into the inside, and because of the nature of the glaze the colour can vary from one vase to the next, so yours may carry a little more or a little less speckle. For styling, keep the stems loose and a little taller than the vase, letting one or two lean towards the opening in the side so the fold stays in view. The styling props shown are not included.

Specification

Height

20cm

Diameter

14.5cm

Material

100% Stoneware

Colour

Beige

Finish

Due to nature of the glaze colour variations may occur

Weight

1.05KG

Frequently Asked

What is the Abeera vase made of?

It is made of 100% stoneware, a dense and hard-wearing ceramic, and it is finished in a mottled beige glaze.

How big is the vase?

It stands 20cm tall and measures 14.5cm across, a size that suits a mantelpiece, a shelf or a bedside table.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 1.05KG, which gives it a reassuringly solid feel for a stoneware vase standing 20cm tall.

Will mine look exactly like the photographs?

Not exactly.
