abe-deconstructed-linen-armchair-stone
Abe Deconstructed Linen Armchair - Stone

Description

The Abe in stone, a pale grey linen over a mango wood frame left bare on every outside face. The chair is deconstructed, which here means the back and the sides are not upholstered at all: the frame stands open and the hemp lining set inside it shows through. The linen runs over the inside back, the seat platform and the arm rails, and is tacked down along the bottom rail with a close line of round studs. A loose seat cushion and a loose back cushion sit on top of it in the same linen, and the weave of that linen is smooth rather than slubbed.

The chair is 90.6cm tall, 80cm wide and 74.5cm deep, and the seat sits 59cm from the floor and runs 60cm between the arms. It weighs 22.1kg and carries up to 120kg. Because the back and the sides are open, the frame and the lining show from every angle, so the chair works turned into a room as readily as pushed back against a wall.

The upholstery is linen and the frame is mango wood. Mango is grown first for its fruit, harvested over a number of years, and cut for timber only once the trees stop bearing, which lets the growers replant and take a second income from the same land. Abe is made in olive, charcoal and rust as well as this stone, there is a striped linen, and the same chair is made in moss velvet.

Specification

Height

90.6cm

Width

80cm

Depth

74.5cm

Seat Height

59cm

Seat Width

60cm

Material

Linen & Mango Wood

Colour

Grey

Maximum Weight

120kg

Weight

22.1kg

Frequently Asked

What does deconstructed mean here?

The back and the sides are left open instead of being upholstered, so the mango wood frame and the hemp lining set into it are visible from outside.

How high is the seat?

59cm from the floor, and 60cm wide between the arms.

What weight does it hold?

Up to 120kg.
